Spalletti laments ´unfair´ Anguissa dismissal as Milan overcome Napoli

Luciano Spalletti bemoaned Frank Anguissa s unfair dismissal as Napoli were dealt another absentee blow in Wednesday s Champions League quarter-final defeat at Milan.

The Napoli midfielder was dismissed for two bookable offences in the space of four second-half minutes as Ismael Bennacer s 40th-minute strike proved the difference in a 1-0 win for Milan at San Siro.

Spalletti was already without injured striker Victor Osimhen, and his replacement Giovanni Simeone, with Anguissa s suspension adding another name to Napoli s growing list of absentees.

The Napoli coach was left unimpressed by referee Istvan Kovacs decisions but insisted the Serie A leaders have capable replacements heading into next week s return leg in Naples.

Brennan Johnson says Tottenham are enjoying their football after Burnley win

Brennan Johnson has urged Tottenham to keep building momentum after they progressed into the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Spurs were made to work hard by Burnley on Friday night, but eventually broke the visitors’ resistance thanks to Pedro Porro’s superb 78th-minute strike.

It made it four wins in five matches for Tottenham and despite a plethora of unavailable players, Johnson is relishing the attacking philosophy being implemented by boss Ange Postecoglou.

“We’re enjoying it a lot. You can tell by how we play on the pitch,” Johnson said.

“We want to keep progressing individually and as a team we want to keep getting better.

“Before the game, the manager said, ‘we’re in two competitions, the Premier League and FA Cup, and we’r…

Adam open to future move abroad

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam is open to the possibility of a move abroad in the future amid links to Real Sociedad.

The 29-year-old has started just five times for Mark Hughes men in the Premier League this season and a switch to La Liga with Sociedad who are coached by former Manchester United manager David Moyes has been mooted.

Adam insists that he is no hurry to leave the Britannia Stadium, but admits the idea of plying his trade outside of England before the end of his career is something that appeals to him.

There s better weather than here,  he told the Stoke Sentinel.

I would love the experience of playing abroad because it s certainly something different. Hopefully, more British players will go and do it.

Edie Falco's Comments About Avatar- The Way Of Water Led To "A Lot Of Flack"

In 2022, prior to the release of Avatar: The Way of Water, Edie Falco made headlines when she said she assumed the film had already come out and flopped because “I didn’t hear anything about it.” She said she had filmed her scenes four years prior and was busy with other projects so she didn’t follow what happened with The Way of Water. Now, Falco says she caught some flack for those comments.

Appearing on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show With Julia Cunningham, Falco said she heard from writer-director James Cameron’s camp that he wasn’t happy. “I heard straight from the source who was with him when he heard that I had said that, that it did not go well,” she said (via EW). “I took a lot of flack for that.”

Belgium 3 Panama 0: Mertens magic sets up Group G win

Dries Mertens scored a stunning volley and Romelu Lukaku was twice on target as Belgium started their Group G campaign with a 3-0 defeat of World Cup debutants Panama in Sochi.

Belgium impressed in an unbeaten qualifying campaign, becoming the first European nation to book their place at Russia 2018.

But Roberto Martinez s side struggled to break Panama down in a flat first half at the Fisht Stadium on Monday, requiring a moment of magic from Mertens to break the deadlock in the 47th minute.

Panama almost mustered a rapid leveller but Thibaut Courtois made a smart stop to keep out a low strike from Michael Murillo, before Lukaku struck twice in six minutes to settle the contest.

Lukaku nodded in a sensational Kevin De Bruyne pass and the Manchester Unit…

Simone Inzaghi wary of Napoli as Inter bid for Supercoppa Italiana hat-trick

Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi is aware of the potential pitfalls facing his team in their Supercoppa Italiana final showdown with Napoli in Riyadh as the Nerazzurri look to make a statement with a mid-season trophy.

Inzaghi’s went into the weekend leading the Serie A table by two points from Juventus and they breezed into Monday’s cup tournament decider in the Saudi Arabian capital by dispatching Lazio 3-0 on Friday.

Standing in their way are Scudetto holders Napoli, who also won 3-0 – against Fiorentina – to give themselves a confidence boost with their league form desperately poor compared to their swashbuckling final season under Luciano Spalletti.

The more pragmatic Walter Mazzarri is now in charge of the Azzurri and there will be a definite c…

Inter 1-0 Torino: Brozovic spares Nerazzurri blushes amid Lukaku absence

A last-gasp volley from Marcelo Brozovic spared Inter s blushes as they overcame Romelu Lukaku s absence to snatch a late 1-0 win against Torino in Milan.

The Croatian latched onto Nicolo Barella s lob into the box in the 89th minute to steer the ball just beyond Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and spark wild celebrations.

Inter, still without the injured Lukaku following his absence for their midweek UEFA Champions League loss to Bayern Munich, had looked lacklustre throughout, without a cutting edge.

But Simone Inzaghi will still take this victory with all the jubilation it was greeted with, while Ivan Juric will be left to rue what could have been for his stubborn visitors.

Despite a rowdy atmosphere, an air of caution seemed to pervade both teams at fir…

Quick Report: United States 2-3 Brazil

Brazil came back from two goals down to beat the United States 3-2 in the final of the 2009 Confederations Cup. The winning goal came from captain Lucio with six minutes to go.

Just ten minutes had been played at Johannesburg s Ellis Park when the USA took a surprising lead with Clint Dempsey scoring from a Jonathan Spector high pass.

And the Americans celebrated again in minute 27. A counter-attack allowed Landon Donovan to push the ball past keeper Julio Cesar for a very comfortable 2-0 lead.

Right at the start of the second half, Brazil showed that the match was far from over as he received a DeMerit pass and turned around to power the ball past Howard.

The goalkeeper went on to make several saves including a deflection onto the crossbar while Brazili…
